About Hunan University of Technology
Hunan University of Technology (HUT), founded in 1958, is a key university in Hunan Province of central China. It is a comprehensive university with science and engineering at its core and packaging technology and education par excellence, offering degree programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels across a wide range of subject areas.
A leading university in China in the field of packaging technology and education and an important base for fostering industrial talents, HUT is the first university in China to join the International Association of Packaging Research institutes (IAPRl), and has been functioning as the director of the China Packaging Education Committee since 2014. The university boasts 40 thousand students, including those from over 10 countries, making it one of the largest in central China. It offers one doctoral programme, 81 postgraduate programmes and 76 undergraduate programmes across 23 academic colleges covering subject areas of engineering, science, management, humanities, economics, law, education and arts, and has been rated ''Excellent'' in teaching and learning by the Ministry of Education.
HUT is home to 2 national research centres in the fields of advanced packaging material research and development as well as packaging advertisement research; and home to over 50 provincial key laboratories and research centres in the fields of intelligent information cognition and processing, rail transport insulation technology, product design and innovation, and also home to a number of collaborative innovation centres, including the Rail Transit Automation Collaborative Innovation Centre, and the Energy-saving Building Materials Collaborative Innovation Centre. In the past five years, HUT has undertaken over 200 national scientific research projects, received aggregate research funding of more than 1.5 billion RMB, and won five National Science and Technology Progress Awards and 73 provincial and ministerial Science and Technology Achievement Awards, with a 20% year-on-year increase in the rate of technology transfer.
HUT is located in Zhuzhou of Hunan province, a city at the cutting edge of engineering and manufacturing, an industrial powerhouse famously known as "the Engine Valley of China" and a world-class rail technology and innovation hub. As a major industrial and technological centre in the heart of China, the city enjoys excellent rail, motorway and flight access to places throughout China and across the world, with Changsha Huanghua International Airport only 37 kilometers away.

Application Guide to Chinese Language Programme for International Students
Ⅰ. Application Categories and Duration of Study
1. Language students from the countries along the "Belt and Road" with the Hunan Provincial "Belt and Road" Scholarship.
Duration: 1 academic year.
2. Self-funded language students.
Duration: 1 academic year.
Ⅱ. Applicant Eligibility
1.Non-Chinese citizens
2.Physically and mentally healthy, good personal quality and doing well in study
3. Holding a high school diploma or higher, with the previous stage of study completed;
4. Age limit:
High school graduate applicants: under 25 years old;
Applicants holding a bachelor’s degree: under 35 years old;
Applicants holding a master’s degree: under 38 years old;
5. Language requirements: HSK Level 2 (preferred) / TOEFL score of 60 or higher / IELTS 5.0 or more / Duolingo 80 or higher / English proficiency certificate issued by school or other relevant institution / English as mother tongue or official language for those without Chinese foundation.
Ⅲ. Application materials
1.Online Application
Applicants can log in the Online Service System for International Students of HUT: http://hut.chiwest.cn, and register an account and fill in online forms and submit the applications（The email address in the application form must be filled in correctly to ensure receipt of the JW202 form);
2.Photocopy of the highest academic degree certificate (or notarized Chinese/English translated document);
3.Transcript of the highest diploma (or notarized Chinese/English translated document);
4.Photocopy of the first page of passport (Over one-year availability);
5.Certificate of No Criminal Record (valid within 6 months);
6.Proof of language proficiency;
7.Bank deposit certificate, indicating an equivalent of CNY 20,000 or more in the the applicant’s account ;
8. Form of Hunan Provincial Scholarship Application for Chinese Language Students from the Countries along “The Belt and Road”(Required for students applying for the "Belt and Road" scholarship);
9.Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Record. Applicants should strictly check the items in accordance with the requirements of Physical Examination Record. An incomplete form (including sheets with no photos, no signs or stamps of doctors and hospitals) is regarded as an invalid form. The physical examination date should be within the last 3 months.
Please upload all materials as high-resolution images or PDFs. If there is any fraud in the application materials, the application will be disqualified. In registration, all the original documents will be reviewed and the admission will be canceled if there is any fraud or inconsistency.
IV.Scholarships

Ⅴ. Charge and Standards
--Tuition Fee: CNY10,000 / year
--Registration Fee: CNY 300
--Basic Textbooks: CNY 900/year
--Accommodation(on-campus): double room (electricity and water bills not included): CNY 3,000 /year; Four-person room: CNY 1,500/year.
--Insurance: CNY 800/year
--Visa/Residence permit: CNY 400-800/year
Notes:
(1) Deadline for application: June 1st, 2024;
(2) According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education of P. R. China, international students must purchase insurance while studying in China. Uninsured students cannot register.
(3) The time of registration shall be based on the Admission Notice. For students who fail to register within the time limit, enrollment will be disqualified.
(4) Admitted candidates will be assessed after completing one semester of Chinese language study and the outstanding students will be recommended to enter undergraduate/postgraduate study in September 2025.
